The Interview

PONY RYDER: Hello Pinkie!
PINKIE: Hi Pony šŸ˜‰
x
PONY RYDER: I don’t know your birth name Pinkie! šŸ˜® What is your full name?
PINKIE: My full name is Kazakova Anna Alexandrovna. There is another girl from Russia named Anya Kazakova. There are too many Annas in Russia. I think it’s the most common name. Only in my class there were about 7 Annas!

PONY RYDER: Why did they name you Pinkie?
PINKIE: Well, I guess when I started I was obsessed with the pink color. I would wear everything in pink! Pink tops, pink trousers, pink shoes, pink coats, pink earrings. Everything! I don’t remember it being that bad… but all of my friends were saying I wore pink all the time. I loved it for a few months. Than I got so bored…. And I don’t wear pink since then. But I guess those few months were the reason to call me Pinkie šŸ˜‰ I don’t know why it’s not Pinky though.

PONY RYDER: OMG Pinkie, I cannot believe that you were all dressed in pink! šŸ˜€ Was it in the style of Britney Spears? šŸ™‚
PINKIE: Ha-ha, I guess I looked more like Barbie ;)) I had really long hair and a bang.

PONY RYDER: How were you discovered? When did your story start?
PINKIE: I was discovered in my home town, Kirov. It’s a small city in Russia. My friend Lena was the only girl who traveled around the world as a model. She took me to the model casting. I think it was the first time when a scout came to our town. So it was all new and exciting for me. They were really interested in me. And in a few weeks for the first time I left Russia. At that time I was 17.
x
PONY RYDER: Is Lena still working?
PINKIE: No, she’s not.

Going Blond

x
PONY RYDER: Pinkie, you recently changed your hair color! How do you feel about the change? Are you adapting to it well?
PINKIE: I wanted to have my hair lighter for a long time. And when I talked to my agency we all got so exited and decided to get my hair dyed platinum blond. I wanted it, and was scared at the same time! I got used to it after a few days. Now I love it!

PONY RYDER: You received a bunch of comments on models.com! Did you see the comments?
PINKIE: I saw the comments on models.com. That’s really nice that most of the people liked this change. Everyone has they own view. Is about the way I feel. I feel great being blond!

PONY RYDER: Do you use some special products for your hair now that you are blond?
PINKIE: Oh yes.. I need to take such good care now, as Iā€™m blond. At first I didnā€™t know what to do to keep it on my head and not to lose it. I would ask everyone for a good advice.

My booker told me that I need to put masks on my hair every time I wash it. And that it’s good to put real avocado, banana and olive oil. At first I felt something strange about putting avocado on my hair. So I asked my hairdresser if I could do that. And he said if I do that my hair might turn green…and I really don’t want that…) He didnā€™t say a thing about bananas. So I did it. I made a purĆ©e of it and put it on my head. I waited for a few hours to get the best result. When I started to wash my hair, the banana would not come out. It was just stuck in it!!!! I did not know what to do! It just stayed there! That’s it!!! I waited till it dries. I brushed it out later.. But the next day on a shoot they still could see some pieces of it! So from now on the only thing I do is I use proper masks ;))

PONY RYDER: Everybody likes your cheekbones. How about you? And what do you think what is your strongest feature?
PINKIE: Thank you. Most of the people like how they come out on the pictures. I think I like about myself that I’m not pretending. I’m smiling if I want to smile. I’m crying if I just feel like it. I’m a really positive person. And Iā€™m taking every good thing from this world.

PONY RYDER: Were you ever compared to some established model?
PINKIE: Yes, Daria Werbowy, a few times.

PONY RYDER: Did you meet Daria?
PINKIE: I haven’t met her…. yet.

Mistakes
x
PONY RYDER: What was the most difficult runway you ever did? How do you stay professional when there are some problems?
PINKIE: Once I had a show and changes between outfits were really close. My second outfit was a long, really tight dress. And there was no time to tight up my shoes. So I had to walk with open shoes in a super tight dress šŸ˜‰ I felt like a penguin. You need to think about everything positive and youā€™ll see that life is really not that bad šŸ˜‰

PONY RYDER: You have to tell us what show that was!!! Did you make it trough the runway without stumbling?
PINKIE: Yes I did. But no way Iā€™m telling you what show was it! What if you find a video of me??? I would die laughing!

x

PONY RYDER: Whatā€™s the biggest mistake a model can make? Have you ever made a mistake that you shouldnā€™t have made?
PINKIE: I can’t remember if I did anything wrong, I hope I didnā€™t… heheh :)In our job it’s really important to be professional. You need to be passionate as well. And there is no need to act rude. If you are nice to people, they are nice to you, too. We are all real people with emotions and feelings.

Music

PONY RYDER: We hear youā€™re a big David Bowie fan! We love Bowie, too!! Would you like to do a Bowie-inspired photoshoot? Do you wear any Bowie t-shirts to castings?? šŸ™‚
PINKIE: Oh I would love that! Can you imagine??? David Bowie is so inspiring himself! His music, his style…just amazing! And I do wear Bowie shirts. I’ve got a couple of them and looking to get some more.

x

PONY RYDER: What other music do you like? Can you recommend us a new artist no-one has yet heard of?
PINKIE: I like any music. Iā€™m still discovering some new bands. But I’m not looking for them myself. I learn about music from my friends. So I’m sure someone else will know first about a new artist. Iā€™ll know later.

Numero Tokyo February 2009 Alex Cayley

PONY RYDER: What type of a cell phone do you use? Whatā€™s your ringtone?
PINKIE: I’ve got an iPhone. The ringtone is called xylophone.

PONY RYDER: How come you don’t have a personalized iPhone ringtone? I was expecting some indie music from you šŸ™‚
PINKIE: Do you want to know why I have this ring tone?? Ok. I’m always listening to music on my phone.. so.. can you imagine if I had something I really like as a ring tone.. I would think that it’s just playing the next songā€¦ Iā€™d miss something, maybe important! Hehe

PONY RYDER: Did you try using a Blackberry?
PINKIE: I haven’t tried it. But Iā€™m sure it makes it so much easier to have Blackberry. I’m sure Iā€™ll have it one day.

Style

x
PONY RYDER: How would you describe your style? Is your style for castings different from the style you have in your free time?
PINKIE: I don’t have a particular style. My style can change everyday. One day I feel like wearing a beautiful dress with some really high heels. And the other day jeans and a baggy t-shirt- it’s all I want. The important thing is to be yourself and to not try copying anyone else.

x

PONY RYDER: Do you have a model friend whose style really inspires you?
PINKIE: I don’t. But I’ve got my mother who is just amazing. When she was 19 she would create her own look and make her clothes herself. Because that time it Russia we didnā€™t have a lot of choices in a clothes that would make her unique. And she would stand out from all the people around her.

x

PONY RYDER: Your mum seems very creative. What was the best advice your mum gave you?
PINKIE: ā€œLove the life you live inā€ Iā€™m still learning from her.
