PONY RYDER: Model start.
AVA MCAVOY: I was going to go to Hofstra in upstate NYC and was visiting a friend in the East Village…
It sounds so cliche! I was walking through a park with my friend, walking her pitbull and this guy (my now mother agent came up to me) and asked me if I’d ever thought about modeling… To which I responded: “No, not really”… Like, I’d messed around with it when I was younger but never thought I could do it as a career.
AVA MCAVOY: My experience with MIX has been incredible… It was great working with a brand new agency because there was all this excitement, but the people in the agency itself have all been in the industry for a hot minute…..

PONY RYDER: Europe.
AVA MCAVOY: I’ve been fortunate enough to travel a lot as a person… But i’ve never really traveled as a job…
To live here as a resident and not a tourist has been overwhelming and crazy to say the least.
It did take a lot of getting used to… For example, nothing here is open on Sundays. And everything closes at certain time during the day for a break. So if you want a late night snack from a corner store – think again because it ain’t happening…
Also people in Italy park on the sidewalks. NOWHERE ELSE in the world have I had to be cautious on the sidewalk…..I have almost died quite a few times.
PONY RYDER: Castings.
AVA MCAVOY: I have more of a simple boyish rocker look than anything else, with a bit of a bad ass twist.

AVA MCAVOY: I am HUGE on Frye boots….like a big big BIG fan.
PONY RYDER: Jeans.
AVA MCAVOY: I own quite a few jeans……..I used to own a ton but then started to splurge on better brands. I’m obsessed with skinny jeans…
I LOVE Diesel jeans and I just got a great pair of Rock and Revival Jeans designed for Buckle that I’m obsessed with. Both blackish…
PONY RYDER: Biker jacket.

AVA MCAVOY: Mmm….toughie. Phone/Ipod/Ipad/water bottle….

AVA MCAVOY: I usually have fresh apples cut up with fiber cereal and/or rice cakes….
PONY RYDER: Guilty pleasure.
AVA MCAVOY: Ohhh god. CHocolate….dark…AND HOMEMADE COOKIES!
PONY RYDER: Exercise routine.
AVA MCAVOY: I do Yoga but walking around the city is enough…and I bulk up really easily.
I’m a vegetarian, so its easier for me!

AVA MCAVOY: So this is a toughie…
I will get a bit red at times due to different figures, so I had to see a dermatologist….so I use a ton of prescription stuff.
#1 Model Rule though : WATER – WATER – WATER… Also always wash your face before you go to sleep… I don’t care if you’re falling asleep while doing it… WASH YOUR FACE!
PONY RYDER: Beauty secret.
AVA MCAVOY: Once again wate and moisturizer!
I use CeraVe AM and PM moisturizer… My dermatologist actually is the one who told me about it and I’m obsessed now.
PONY RYDER: Make up.
AVA MCAVOY: I try to avoid wearing a lot of make up as much as I can…
I love the Laura Mercier concealer….that’s the best…..and the Bobbi Brown liquid foundation is amazing!!

AVA MCAVOY: I wouldn’t be working at all if I didn’t have such a different look….
So I think if you want things to happen for you, you gotta do what you gotta do.
As far as products go, I use a lot of Alfaparf Milano products….and mens hair products!

You gotta be You… Believe in yourself and success will follow you! Everyone has something to be proud of and you should pride yourself off that. At some point your looks will fade…and then what’s left is what matters the most.
