PONY RYDER: You have an interesting story about how you have been discovered? Tell us more!
LYNDSEY SCOTT: Jules Birnbaum Watson, the new faces booker at Click Models found me on Models.com.
PONY RYDER: When you applied for MDC’s scouting feature, what kind of photos did you put? Did you have any professional photos, or did you just use a few simple snapshots?
LYNDSEY SCOTT : I had some tests that I had taken by Rico Kinnard and I posted three of them on Models.com.

PONY RYDER: Why didn’t you go to an „open call“ , but instead you choose to apply via models.com?
LYNDSEY SCOTT : I had been to a few agency open calls, but Jules called me directly with great enthusiasm about my look and scheduled an appointment to meet me immediately. I was so excited when I was signed with Click.
PONY RYDER: Tell us about your relationship with your agency in NY. They did a great job developing you! Congratulations to Click! Are you now one of their biggest discoveries?
LYNDSEY SCOTT : I love all the bookers at Click. Click has also done an excellent job of finding and developing other new faces like Ubah Hassan and Melissa Baker.

PONY RYDER: Lyndsey, you are the first model of color to walk for Calvin Klein as an exclusive! Tell us more about the casting process? Do you think that the casting directors were specifically looking for a black girl?
LYNDSEY SCOTT : The casting directors were open to looking for new faces of all color. However, I was the only black girl at the final call back the night I was chosen.
PONY RYDER: After Calvin Klein show, you got a lot of exposure, and it may seem like an overnight success. How much time and hard work have you invested into your career before the Calvin Klein moment?
LYNDSEY SCOTT : I have been patient and I have been a full time model for about a year.

PONY RYDER: Who did you meet backstage at Calvin Klein? Were you too nervous to meet anyone?
LYNDSEY SCOTT : I was involved in the hair and makeup process so there was no time to be nervous. The designer was showing Anna Wintour the collection backstage, just before the show and she smiled at me when she passed by.
PONY RYDER: That was your third show… Who taught you how to walk? Did you maybe make some eye contact while walking?
LYNDSEY SCOTT : Maida and Rami gave me pointers on my walk during the walk thru before the show. I did not make eye contact while walking, but I could hear the comments and enthusiasm of the people watching the show seeing a black girl walk in the Calvin Klein Collection F/W 09 show.
PONY RYDER: After seeing so many faces on models.com, you must have had a favorite model. Who was it? And did you maybe meet her?
LYNDSEY SCOTT : Jac is a new model that I met while doing the fitting at Calvin Klein . She is a nice girl and very funny.

PONY RYDER: Do you think that there is a specific reason why black models don’t book as many high-profile jobs as other models? Does the market treat you differently?
LYNDSEY SCOTT : I do not know the reason, but I am happy that Maida and Rami, KCD, and all the people at Calvin Klein were able to make this happen by stepping outside the box.
PONY RYDER: Do you think that the now legendary „Black Issue“ of Vogue Italia has made a big change? Do you think that it has had an immediate effect, or do you think that it will prove to be more influential in the future?
LYNDSEY SCOTT : I was so excited about the Black Issue of Italian Vogue July 09 and I went out and bought the issue as soon as I could find it in New York. I definitely feel that it made a difference and hopefully things will change even more in the future.

PONY RYDER: Your body is phenomenal! How do you stay in shape?
LYNDSEY SCOTT : Thank you for the compliment. I have a stationary bike in my apartment that I ride while watching movies. It is low impact so I can not get injured. I also walk a lot while going on my castings in New York City.
PONY RYDER: Do you have a special regime when it comes to nutrition? Is there a difference in what you eat when you’re working and when you’re taking some time off back home?
LYNDSEY SCOTT : There is no difference to the way I eat while when I am working or when I am home. I prefer to cook my own food and I like organic or local farm grown vegetables, although I am not a vegetarian.
